Cambodia Retirement Visa
The ER Visa, also known as Cambodia Retirement Visa allows an individual to retire in Cambodia. Applicants must provide documentation of retirement in their home country and prove they can financially support themselves.
Before applying for an ER Visa Cambodia, applicants must consider the following:
- The applicant must not be employed in any shape or form.
- They must be at least 55 years of age.
- The applicant must be able to financially support himself/herself during their stay in the country.
- Under the Cambodia Retirement Law, the applicant should have social security documentation to prove that they are retired.
- Foreigners who retire in the country will also have to get themselves registered under the Foreigners Present in Cambodia System.
Cambodia Retirement Visa Extension
The ER Visa can be extended. In order to do so, the applicant must satisfy the following criteria:
- Being at least 55 years old.
- Being unemployed.
- Providing the paperwork proving that he/she is retired.
- Prove that the applicant can financially support himself/herself.

Holders can stay in Cambodia for up to one year. They can also renew their visa.
• Financial Requirements
Applicants must be able to prove that they can financially support themselves in Cambodia. However, there is no specific amount mentioned by the local authorities.
• Is employment permitted?
Employment is not permitted under an ER Visa.

Frequently asked questions
Will I get my visa immediately after submitting my application?
No, you will normally receive your visa 5 days after the submission of your application. The reason for this is that after submitting your application you will get an ‘Under Consideration stamp’ in your passport. The Immigration Officers will use this time to go through and check your application. After 5 days, the visa is ready to be collected.
Are there any restrictions to consider when applying for a ER visa?
Once you have received your ER visa, you are allowed to stay in Cambodia for up to one year.
Can I leave and re-enter Cambodia?
If you hold a multiple entry visa, you can enter and leave Cambodia as many times as you like during the validity of your Visa.
How much do I need to retire in Cambodia?
There is no exact answer to this question, but it seems that the monthly budgets tend to be from $1,000 up to $2,500, a few studies shows that you can one can live comfortably with an average of $1,500.
