My 2nd home – Cambodia’s new golden visa

The Khmer Home Charity Association (KHCA) in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, has officially launched the “Cambodia My 2nd home” (C2MH) programme which will offer its members a 10-year golden visa.

This new programme is being implemented to improve international investment opportunities and economic growth in Cambodia.

What are the advantages of the C2MH programme?

The main perk of this new programme promoted by the Ministry of the Interior is a 10-year golden visa without restrictions.

In addition, successful applicants will have the right to apply for a Cambodian passport after only 5 years.

Acquiring Cambodian citizenship not only offers great advantages in the country, such as the right to own land, but also all the benefits of being an ASEAN citizen.

The CM2H package also includes a number of other privileges designed to make the whole process as smooth and easy as possible for applicants and to offer them the best possible lifestyle.

These privileges include:

  • A 10-year membership of the KHCA
  • Assistance with company registration, work permit and opening a bank account.
  • Assistance in finding the right government approved property to invest in (see conditions below).
  • Free medical cover for one year
  • Cambodian driving licence
  • Trust account services
  • Housing arrangements
  • Legal and tax advice, property and land management, and financial planning advice.
  • Educational advice to find the most appropriate school for the children if any

Who can apply for the C2MH programme ?

The CM2H programme is currently open to any citizen of a country recognized by the Cambodian government.

How to do you apply?

According to the information currently available, the application process is standard. First of all, applicants will have to provide the usual documents allowing the authorities to verify their identity, such as passports, photos, academic and professional certificates, etc. These documents must also be provided for any accompanying family members.

After the verification process comes the application process which requires applicants to provide proof of income, bank statements, birth and marriage certificates, a medical examination report and the application fee. If the applicant holds property titles or companies, they will need to provide the relevant certificates/licences.

Once the application is submitted, the authority will issue a decision within 7 days.

If the application is approved, the process of moving to Cambodia can start and the CM2H member will benefit from all the services mentioned above to acquire all the necessary documents such as visas, work permits but also get help with bank accounts, housing, education issues, etc.

Are there any conditions for obtaining the visa?

To qualify for CM2H membership, applicants must have a minimum investment capital of USD 100,000. Ownership of property in Cambodia is not required, as successful applicants will be allocated a stand at the new GC Orussey Market, which will be considered as property.

In conclusion

More and more people are calling Cambodia the new Asian tiger, as its growth figures are among the highest in the world. Not only is the Kingdom’s economy doing well, but living conditions are improving and expats are enjoying a pleasant lifestyle that the government is trying to promote while encouraging foreign investment.

Moving to Cambodia now promises an exciting adventure while taking advantage of the country’s expansion and the C2MH programme could be a great option to achieve this.
