text_18'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>On June 13th, the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI Thailand ) held a meeting which approved a total of 209.5 billion baht (US 6.2 billion) worth of investment applications in manufacturing and infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n<p>The BOI also approved a new set of incentives and measures which we will explore further in this itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock text_16'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Thailand\u2019s Board of Investment is a special government agency who focuses on promoting foreign investment within Thailand. A BOI promotion removes many of the barriers to doing business in Thailand, such as the restrictions of the Foreign Business Act.<\/p>\n<p>More information on the Foreign Business Act can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/belaws.com\/thailand\/foreign-business-act-in-thailand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-l4dms3qo-633507f5ba7296d16d4a6bdc29bbf37a'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock text_16'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Furthermore, the BOI also provides qualifying projects with a series of impressive incentives such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tax benefits such as income tax exemptions for a fixed period.<\/li>\n<li>100% foreign ownership of a company.<\/li>\n<li>Reduced requirements for supporting work permits i.e. no quotas for hiring foreigners<\/li>\n<li>The ability to own land.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n\n<style type=\"text\/css\" data-created_by=\"avia_inline_auto\" id=\"style-css-av-2jj305-8438facf165d88b85e127060910d7fd2\">\n#top .hr.hr-invisible.av-2jj305-8438facf165d88b85e127060910d7fd2{\nheight:30px;\n}\n<\/style>\n<div  class='hr av-2jj305-8438facf165d88b85e127060910d7fd2 hr-invisible  avia-builder-el-18  el_after_av_textblock  el_before_av_textblock  av-medium-hide av-small-hide av-mini-hide'><span class='hr-inner '><span class=\"hr-inner-style\"><\/span><\/span><\/div><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-kzc8896i-641992727c615007373775a5b9cae137'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock h2_bleu_post'  itemprop=\"text\" ><h2>What incentives were passed during the meeting?<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-l4nlz54j-150afe8b0e8ce4ffb9968d9ebe5bf1a0'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock h2_bleu_post'  itemprop=\"text\" ><h3>Smart Industrial Estate Incentives<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-kzf5nvgh-d26d9028fa14f7696218f7f315aecef7'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock text_16'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>The BOI approved 2 packages relating to Smart Industrial Estates. The first package is for the promotion of investment in smart industrial estates\/zones, and the second package relates to projects who are interested in upgrading the existing general industrial estates\/zones.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-l4dmx87k-99e473bd0210aa2534efc10fb2e4e16c'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock text_16'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>To qualify and apply for either package of incentives, the projects must provide intelligent system services to their customers in five key areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Smart Facilities,<\/li>\n<li>Smart IT,<\/li>\n<li>Smart Energy,<\/li>\n<li>Smart Economy,<\/li>\n<li>and at least one of the following three intelligent system services; Smart Good Corporate Governance, Smart Living, and Smart Workforce.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-l4nm0nrz-7ccb5fab8d80bc7b4d909771a306f9bb'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock text_16'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Additionally, Investment promotion benefits will now also include any investments made in the development of smart systems for use in industrial estates and zones.<\/p>\n<p>Approved projects who satisfy the above criteria will be granted an 8-year corporate income tax exemption. Out of this sum, 36.1 Billion THB was awarded to Horizon Plus Co., Ltd., a joint venture between Taiwan&#8217;s Foxconn and Thailand&#8217;s PTT PCL. This venture received the investment in order to make battery electric vehicles (BEV).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-l4doz2ah-b02f2328d3f77c87a429168a1d8c416c'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock text_16'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>This is in line with Thailand\u2019s plans to become a leading hub in the development of BEVs.
