and decided to stay long term\/live in Thailand.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, foreigners in Thailand can only purchase a condo and cannot purchase or own land (there are a few exceptions but these are outside the scope of this article).<\/p>\n<p>However, a proposal is being drafted by the Thai Interior Ministry which would allow foreigners to purchase and own up to 1 Rai of land (around 1,600 square Foreigners can not own land, with the exception of a few scenarios which are outside the scope of this article.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-l15x27pf-d0bde0c04e73ca6d5e54854b65c7527e'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock text_16'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>It is possible for foreigners to purchase a Condo. However, Thai law states that foreigners may only own 49% of a single condo development. However, it\u2019s only payable if the property is sold within the first five years of ownership. If not, stamp duty will be imposed instead.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"av_textblock_section av-l5g6uy7k-df1dd7b40bcffdaf37ee22236e125b3b\">\n<div class=\"avia_textblock text_16\">\n<p><strong>Stamp Duty<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Stamp Duty of 0.5% of the total registered value of the property will be imposed. company is fixed at 1% of the appraised value or 1% of the sales price (whichever is higher).<\/p>\n<p>Withholding Tax for an individual is calculated at a progressive rate depending on the appraised
