Requirements for entering Thailand in 2022

On the 18th of March 2022, Thailand’s Center for the Coronavirus Disease 2019 Epidemic Situation Administration (CCSA), approved a set of changes to the existing immigration measures imposed due to COVID-19. These new measures show a significant relaxing of the rules and make it easier for foreign travellers to enter Thailand.
Please note that these regulations have been approved and will come into effect on April 1st.

What are the Requirements for entering Thailand in 2022?
From the 1st of April, 2022 anyone entering Thailand will be subject to these rules:
Eligible travellers
Any international travellers must enter Thailand via one of the three entry schemes – Test & Go, Sandbox and Alternative Quarantine (AQ). However, travellers will now be allowed to enter Thailand without having to provide proof of a negative RT-PCR test within 72 hours of travel.
Points of entry
The newly approved regulations have added several new points of entry via air, land, and water.
From April 1st the following will points of entry will be available for travellers entering Thailand:
The number of approved airports has been increased from 7 to 8. Hat Yai airport has been added to the list along with Don Mueang, Suvarnabhumi, Phuket, Krabi, Samui, Chiang Mai and U-Tapao (Pattaya).
Satun has been added to the approved list of land border checkpoints, join Nong Khai, Udon Thani and Song Khla.
Finally, Surat Thani has been added to the water points of entry alongside Phuket and Chon Buri.
Testing requirements
Upon arriving in Thailand travellers will be subject to two COVID-19 tests. These tests are as follows, a RT-PCR test upon arrival (Day 0) and an antigen self-test on Day 5.
As mentioned above, travellers no longer have to take a RT-PCR within 72 hours of travel.
Please note, this only applies to the Test and Go and Sandbox schemes. Travellers who must complete AQ are subject to different rules, please see below for more details.
Sandbox and AQ staying periods
The new amendments have also reduced the amount of time travellers are required to stay within their chosen scheme e.g. Sandbox and AQ.
Sandbox
Travellers who have arrived under the Sandbox scheme must complete 5 days inside the Sandbox destination before being able to travel domestically. This period has been reduced to 5 days from 7 days.
After completing these five days within the Sandbox destinations, travellers will be allowed to travel anywhere domestically within Thailand.
Alternative Quarantine (AQ) requirements
Alternative Quarantine has been reduced to 5 days (from 7) and all participants are required to take an RT-PCR test on Days 4 and 5 (as well as upon arrival).
