Requirements for entering Thailand in June 2022

As of the 1st of June 2022, Thailand has introduced a new set of entry requirments for travellers. These new requirements will have specific requirements for vaccinated, partially vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers from every country.
These new measures show a significant relaxing of the previous rules and make it easier for foreign travellers, both fully vaccinated and non-vaccinated to enter Thailand.

- Travellers still require a Thailand Pass to enter Thailand but approval will now be granted within 1 hour.
- No quarantine for vaccinated or unvaccinated/partially vaccinated travellers if proof of vaccination OR a negative COVID 19 test (taken within 72 hours) is provided.
- If NO proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test is provided, travellers are required to complete 5 days of quarantine.
What are the new requirements for entering Thailand in June 2022?
From the 1st of June 2022, anyone who wishes to enter Thailand will be subject to these rules:
Pre-arrival requirements for vaccinated travellers
All fully vaccinated travellers are required to have the following documents for entering Thailand.
- A valid passport.
- A Thailand Pass. Appilcations for Thailand Passes can be submitted ici. The Thailand Pass will require the applicant to upload some information such as proof of vaccination or a RT-PCR/Professional Antigen test taken within 72 hours of submission. Once the information has been submitted, the QR code will be issued to the applicant within 1 hour. Please note, Thais are exempt from this requirement and do not need to apply for a Thailand Pass.
- A valid insurance policy with a policy coverage of no less than US$10,000. Please note, Thai nationals and foreign expatriates who are covered by Thailand’s social security are exempt from this requirement.
- A Certificate/proof of COVID-19 Vaccination:
- Everyone who is 18 years of age and older must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 with an approved vaccine at least 14 days before travelling to Thailand.
- Travellers who are aged between 5 and 17 and are travelling to Thailand unaccompanied must have received at least 1 dose of an approved vaccine at least 14 days before travelling. However, anyone in this age group who is travelling with their parents are exempt from this requirement.
- Travellers with a history of COVID-19 infection who have recovered by medical treatment, and travellers who have received at least one dose of an approved vaccine post-infection must have a certificate of COVID-19 recovery.
Thailand currently accepts the following vaccines which have been approved by World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Public Health of Thailand:
- AstraZeneca/Oxford University (2 doses)
- Sinovac (2 doses)
- Pfizer/BioNTech (2 doses)
- Covishield (2 doses)
- Johnson & Johnson (1 dose)
- Moderna (2 doses)
- Sinopharm (2 doses)
Pre-arrival requirements for unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travellers
Travellers who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated are required to have the following documents for entering Thailand.
- A valid passport.
- A Thailand Pass. Appilcations for Thailand Passes can be submitted ici. The Thailand Pass will require the applicant to upload some information such as a RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours of submission. Once the information has been submitted, the QR code will be issued to the applicant within 1 hour. Please note, Thais are exempt from this requirement and do not need to apply for a Thailand Pass.
- A valid insurance policy with a policy coverage of no less than US$10,000. Please note, Thai nationals and foreign expatriates who are covered by Thailand’s social security are exempt from this requirement.
- A COVID-19 RT-PCR or Professional Antigen test result, issued no more than 72 hours before departure.
What are the arrival requirements in Thailand?
After arriving in Thailand, all travellers must complete the entry screening procedures. The entry procedures include a body temperature check, and presenting the documents listed above to the Immigration/Health Control officer.
Once this process has been completed, both vaccinated and unvaccinated/partially vaccinated travellers (who submitted a negative COVID test via the Thailand Pass) will then be allowed to enter Thailand and travel anywhere freely.
If the traveller in question is unvaccinated/not fully vaccinated and HAS NOT submitted a negative test result taken within 72 hours of travel, they will be required to follow the public health instructions and guidelines as deemed appropriate by the Health Control officer at the point of arrival e.g. Quarantine (Alternative Quarantine (AQ)) for 5 days. During these 5 days, the traveller will be required to take 1 RT-PCR test.
